DISCOVERSD

Let’s take a lesson in marketing communications with William Lopez, Owner of Alternative Strategies – a full-service San Diego firm celebrating its ten year anniversary this month.

Whether you are a consumer, educator or business owner, you may think you know your industry, but I’d bet $10 William could shed some knowledge on what simple things you could change in order to achieve great success. Alternative Strategies has performed its “Wow Factor” on a diverse spread of businesses in San Diego and beyond, including Anthology, Fashion Careers College, FM 94.9 and Hotel Solamar, as well as a variety of companies in the health/medical/beauty, real estate, and non-profit industries.

In honor of their exciting anniversary, I sat down with William to discover how the Pay-by-Performance program works, what surprising things he learned from clients, how he orchestrates effective campaigns, and what dream clients he would love to work with. Oh, and I also played a little game to test his marketing communication skills and asked for his feedback on how the San Diego entertainment and dining industries will continue to grow in the next ten years.

Get to know William Lopez of Alternative Strategies in this new exclusive interview.

DiscoverSD: Can you please share a company-wide overview of what Alternative Strategies is and what you do, both in San Diego and beyond?

William Lopez: Alternative Strategies is a full-service marketing communications firm located in the beautiful cities of San Diego and Chicago. Our capabilities include innovative approaches to public relations, marketing, and creative services (both graphic and web design). We’ve built our agency on the principle that every product, company, and organization has something that sets them apart — something unique, different, special — whether these companies know it or not. Our job is to find that difference and play around with it by bending it, twisting it, shaping it into something that will not only make their customers say, “Wow!” but that also creates a lasting impression that deepens over time. You could call it integrated marketing, though we like to call it our “Commonsense Approach” and it’s this Approach that has made our agency and clients successful. It has also inspired an organic evolution of the way we think about and do business.
